The Fluorescence Explorer (FLEX) is upcoming satellite mission by ESA, which is designed to see this glow from space and use it to understand photosynthesis.

The idea behind FLEX was to look at plants in a completely different way. ESA selected FLEX in 2015 as its eighth Earth Explorer mission.[1]
Its main instrument, FLORIS, was developed to detect the extremely faint fluorescence coming from vegetation.[2]
