Thismia daemona is a flowering plant discovered in Thailand. belongs to the genus Thismia, a group of small plants known for their strange, lantern like flowers and dependence on fungi rather than photosynthesis for their nutrition. it have assessed it as Critically Endangered Species.[1]
History
It was formally described as a new species in 2026 by Tosak Seelanan, Isareyakorn Chantapram, Neeranuch Taosiri, Chanachon Chuchuea, and Sahut Chantanaorrapint. researchers team studied its physical characteristics and used molecular phylogenetic analyses to confirm that, it represents a distinct species. It is found in Thailand's Thong Pha Phum National Park, growing among leaf litter in shaded lower montane forest.[2]
